Community-supported independent radio.
A phrase heard on WPRB Princeton hundreds of times every week. But as often as our DJs and staff say those words, we never take them for granted. As Station Manager here at WPRB I’ve seen the independent radio community fuel our passionate programming year in and year out. From Iceland to Atlanta, all of you are the reason why we’re on air—our listeners, our members, our friends.
Last spring, WPRB’s supporters threw their weight behind our first-ever silent fundraiser to improve in-house technology, with amazing results. WPRB was able to purchase several new computers dedicated to maintaining a much more stable webstream and enabling DJs to pre-produce creative programming. These technological improvements push WPRB to the front of the pack, and would have been impossible without you. You have our heartfelt thanks for your generosity.
Now, bigger and better things are on the way. WPRB’s next community-oriented initiative is a brand-new website that’s focused on our listeners. Think revolution, not redesign. Our goal is to amp up the social media interactions available for 21st-century radio lovers–this means chatting with DJs and other listeners, “liking” and “favoriting” songs, commenting on playlists in real-time, and more. For locals, the site will incorporate familiar features like WPRB’s Community Notebook and Concert Calendar, creating a hub for community events hand-picked by our staff and tailored to your interests.
This May we’re launching a second silent fundraiser to totally revamp WPRB’s internet presence. The phones are off, but the drive is on. Imagine the WPRB community that you’ve known for years, made visible: and you have the power to make it happen by pledging this spring. All of the proceeds will fund the development and design of WPRB’s website, not our day-to-day operational needs. We hope that you’ll blow us away again.
As always, we’ve come up with some stellar swag items to sweeten the deal. Man’s best friend, the WPRBloodhound, will grace a forest green t-shirt that’ll leave your friends equally green with envy. Another pledge level up brings the WPRBubble hoodie: a party in the back rivaled only by Ziggy Stardust. Swoon.
You can make your tax-deductible pledge here. We sign on-air every morning because of you–and we can’t wait to sign online with you soon.
